AnnotationThis Joint Review provides an independent assessment of how well the public is being served by social services locally. It found that most people are well served by Shropshire Social Services, most service users and carers value the services they receive, and the overall quality of services is good, some excellent. There is a growing population of older people: the number of over 74s has increased by about 14% since 1991. The report notes that more attention is being paid to promoting independence for older people, and there is an increasing focus on prevention and rehabilitation that supports living at home. Priorities for action identified by the review include: partnerships with the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors, and with service users and carers; and adult and carers services promoting independence, choice and community support.
