AnnotationGiven technological developments available for sustaining life, the role of social workers in interdisciplinary teams in determining use of life-sustaining treatment (LST) is likely to increase. Results of a survey of 63 Israeli social workers indicate that they would use cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) significantly less than artificial feeding or mechanical ventilation. They would also use significantly less LST for patients in a metastatic condition than for those with mental and severe physical conditions. Social workers' attitudes to using LST were more associated to beliefs regarding life and death than to sociodemographic variables. (RH).
