Journal title | International Journal of Aging and Human Development, vol 52, no 3, 2001 |
Pages | pp 207-230 |
Keywords | Ethnic groups ; Informal care ; Social structure ; Social surveys ; United States of America. |
Annotation | Data from an older community sample drawn from the North Carolina site of the Established Populations for Epidemiologic Studies of the Elderly (EPESE) focusing on 4,124 older people aged 65+ is used in this study. The research focuses on the extent to which race differences in network dimensions are present, and whether these variations can be attributed to varying social structural positions held by African Americans and Whites. Results indicate that several race differences persist, even when controlling for social structural variables. (RH). |
