AnnotationIn addition to national minimum standards for care homes for younger adults and adult placements, this consultation document contains the draft Care Homes Regulations. It also includes supplementary standards for children aged 16 and 17 in care homes, and a partial regulatory impact assessment (RIA). Together with "National minimum standards for care homes for older people", these Regulations and standards will form the basis of the new regulatory framework under the Care Standards Act 2000 (CSA) for the conduct of care homes. The Regulations and standards included in this document have been drafted following consultation with service users, providers and regulators, and also take account of the outcome of earlier consultations on care homes for older people. The document notes that the Registered Homes Act 1984 and the Residential Care Homes Regulations will be repealed in April 2002 when these new Regulations come into force. (RH).
