Annotation | Household services are defined as those services provided by public and private organisations or the third sector which substitute unwaged work traditionally carried out in the home with paid work. This research overview relates to concerns about the quality and working conditions of such employment. It is based on results of research carried out in eight European Union (EU) Member States (Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and the UK), and covers child care, eldercare, domestic cleaning, home maintenance and catering.
