AnnotationGambling is one of the fastest growing industries in the US. Public support is high for legalised gambling among all age groups. Because gambling is growing in popularity as an activity for over 65s, group trips to casinos and other gambling attractions such as dog tracks are being arranged for them. This paper analyses organised gambling trips to casinos: the number of trips, how they are funded, policy implications, and the policy alternatives for state and local policy-makers. Data for the study come from personal interviews with activity directors of 16 centres for older people in Central Massachusetts. Benefits of a new policy option are also reviewed. (RH).
