AnnotationTrends in migration patterns associated with information technology (IT) and free trade, and the emergence of a global economy came to the fore in the 1990s. This economy is based on knowledge, and results in competition between countries for a highly educated and skilled labour force, ergo, movement of people across national borders for reasons other than traditional migration. This paper examines potential impacts for older people in out-migration and in-migration countries. Information from Canada and the US is used as examples of in-migration countries, and India as an out-migration one. (RH).
