Carers: [information needs of two client groups] | Author(s) | Saul Becker |

Annotation | Parents from an ethnic minority caring for a severely disabled child, and family members caring for an older relative with dementia have a very low profile, and so their needs remain largely unmet. Two studies sought to uncover more information about the individual needs of these two client groups. The author reviews the findings of a study by Jo Moriarty and Sarah Webb, "Part of their lives: community care of older people with dementia" (Policy Press, 2000), and suggests how services could be improved and carers' needs taken into account.
