AnnotationAssessment of more than 500 patients attending a memory clinic by a geriatrician (Italian speaking) or psychogeriatrician using the Cambridge Examination for Mental Disorders in the Elderly (CAMDEX) interview schedule indicate that the clinical and demographic features of those of non-English speaking background (NESB) differ from their ESB counterparts. There is an under-representation of those from NESBs attending a memory clinic service. Those of NESB are more likely to present with psychiatric disorder, and they are also more likely to present in the later stages of dementia. (RH).
