AnnotationThe RAP data collection documentation is in two volumes and constitutes a resource pack and set of return proformas for use by all Local Authority (LA) Social Services Departments (SSDs). As this is a substantial revision to data collection, these documents should be read in conjunction with any statistical output for the fiscal year 2001/2002. (A total number of 17 new returns need to be made by the SSDs). The aim is to provide a fuller picture of numbers of people receiving community care services and those going through the referral and assessment process carried out by their SSDs. The RAP returns offer scope to compare information about adult community care by local authority and provide aggregation to regional and national levels. There will be five primary client groups used and 'older people' will not be one of these but data on them will be picked up via the age breakdown details, mostly concerned with components of service, and within client subsets. These components are: day care; meals; home care (split into two - home help/home care and respite care). Subsets of the primary client groups for some returns will include data on those with physical/sensory disabilities, frailty and dementia. Services for carers will not be included in RAP data. (KJ).
