Annotation | Day hospitals for older people typically provide a multidisciplinary service for a heterogeneous group of patients based largely on a health care model. This article gives an historical perspective on research carried out since the 1960s. It comments on reports by the National Audit Office (NAO, 1994) and the House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts (1995), "Day hospitals for elderly people in England". It also considers Royal College of Physicians (RCP) guidelines and a 1991/92 national survey by the RCP (both 1994). (RH). |
