Annotation | This report presents information from the first national data collection resulting from the Referrals, Assessments and Packages of Care (RAP) Project. The Project has developed since 1996 to provide a coherent set of national statistics on adult community care, which is more focused on the client's experience of Social Services Departments (SSDs) rather than delivery of individual services and the resources to provide those services, (as in previous DH statistical series RA and HMD). The aim is to provide a fuller picture of the numbers of people receiving community care services and those going through the referral and assessment process carried out by their SSDs. The RAP returns (proformas) offer scope to compare information about adult community care by local authority and provide aggregation to regional and national levels. These findings give data by age for those receiving help with dementia; physical and sensory disabilities; learning disability; and HIV amongst other client groups. These findings are accompanied by an Evaluation Report of this first dress rehearsal. Annual DH statistical bulletins for information on residential and non-residential community care for adults remain in publication. (KJ/RH). |
