AnnotationTraditional assumptions about women's health and medical research are being challenged, and several major databases designed specifically to study women's health have emerged. The purpose of this paper is to characterise the major longitudinal studies on women's health; to summarise the major discoveries from these studies that are relevant to older women; and to pose several future directions for research.
