AnnotationSome recent advances in geriatric medicine are outlined in this short review of articles published between 1998 and 2000. Although there is evidence about the effectiveness of some interventions and advances in the care of older people, many gaps in knowledge remain. There is a need to encourage research in older people and to encourage older people to participate in research. (RH).
