AnnotationThis report contains early findings from a 2-year King's Fund project on Primary Care Groups (PCGs) and Older People. The project worked with five PCGs in England representing a broad range across: urban, suburban and rural; ethnic mix; percentage of single-handed practices; population size; and deprivation levels. This report describes progress in achieving improvements for older people in three areas. Firstly, understanding the factors that make the needs of older people and their carers a priority. Secondly, understanding which services need improving and how, by involving older people and their carers in the evaluation, planning and developing services. Thirdly, the capacity to work in partnership with other organisations to improve local services, and to ensure that the PCG is effective in commissioning and providing services that meet older people's needs.
