AnnotationPublic health strategies include preventive aspects of medical care, health education, and control of the environment. This is the final report from a King's Fund project, "Public Health and Public Values", which was commissioned by the R&D Directorate of the NHS London Regional Office. It summarises the main findings of a project to engage Londoners in a public debate around controversial issues arising from current public health strategies in the capital. The public debate took the form of discussion groups, workshops and an opinion survey. Participants strongly supported public involvement in making public health policy decisions; consequently, decision-makers had a duty to consult the public. A separate summary is also enclosed.
