Annotation | The Review aims to provide an objective assessment of how well people in Kensington and Chelsea are served by their social services, and concludes that residents and users are well served. Although the authority has relatively low rates of domiciliary service coverage, it also has low rates of supported admissions to residential and nursing care and low rates of hospital emergency admissions. Examples of good practice include: a Better Government for Older People (BGOP) Project Readers' Group; the Elderly People's Integrated Care Service (EPICS); the Residential Placement Monitoring (RPM) Team; the Home Care GP Rapid Response Scheme; and development in draft form of residential and nursing home standards for older people, influenced by recommendations in "Fit for the future". The Review makes recommendations for further developments in the service. (RH). |
