Annotation | New interest in lifelong learning in the UK stresses the need to consult with older people. Providers of older adults' learning need to demonstrate that they work in partnership and involve current and potential older learners. This article reviews the policy background and reports on a consultation exercise devised to explore participants' values and perspectives on the contribution of education to their other priorities and goals. The research found that older learners seek outcomes from education that have meaning in their own lives. Older learners envisage education in a broad instrumental sense, enabling them to build and maintain personal resources. (RH). |
