Annotation | From January 2001 information on the cause of death in England and Wales will be coded to the Tenth Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). This will have a significant impact on all mortality statistics based on cause of death. This article explains some of the differences between the previous revision, ICD-9 and ICD-10 and the changes to be expected in mortality statistics. It gives a timetable for release of mortality data coded to ICD-10. (KJ). |
