The NHS Plan maintaining the human touch | Author(s) | Jon Glasby |
Journal title | Managing Community Care, vol 8, issue 6, December 2000 |
Pages | pp 11-14 |
Keywords | National Health Service ; Management [care] ; Policy. |
Annotation | Although the NHS Plan stopped short of forced mergers of local authority social services departments (SSDs) with NHS bodies, it may nevertheless lead to a form of amalgamation by stealth. This paper seeks to consider the implications of the NHS Plan for joint working between health and social care, arguing that the Plan is flawed and will complicate rather than improve inter-agency collaboration. The paper also emphasises the need to retain a central focus on service users' experiences. (RH). |
