Annotation | Evidence-based social care is the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions regarding the welfare of those in need. This book reports the findings of a survey carried out by the Centre for Evidence-based Social Services, University of Exeter,on the state of evidence-based approaches in fourteen social service departments (SSDs) in the south-west. The project examined accessibility of information needed to keep up to date, the perceived relevance of research to professional practice, and implications for professional training. A key finding was that staff felt they were being given limited support from management for the task of incorporating research findings into their practice. (RH). |
