Older people: [what they need to make a difference] | Author(s) | Jill Manthorpe |

Annotation | Recent research does much to shed light on what older people need from social care to make a real difference to their lives. This review outlines findings of a literature review and qualitative study compiled by Annette Boaz, Carole Hayden and Miriam Bernard for the Department of Social Security, "Attitudes and aspirations of older people" (both DSS, 1999). What older people themselves think of statutory services and the assistance they are offered is the subject of Charlotte MacDonald's report "Support at home: views of older people on the needs and access to services (TSO, 1999). Reference is made to other qualitative studies. Points for social work practice are suggested. (RH). |
