AnnotationThis paper provides suggestions for the curricular introduction of materials from a weekly newspaper column on ageing (or similar locally or nationally syndicated newspaper column - in this instance, the Courier-Journal, Louisville, KY) over a 1-year period (5 October 1997 to 27 September 1998). The study provides a content analysis of the column, and presents specific suggestions for the inclusion of its content into the curriculum, especially columns with course-related themes (e.g. medical problems, elder abuse, nutrition), to show the relationship between theory and practice. In one activity, students wrote their own ageing columns to develop their research and writing skills. (RH).
