Annotation120 patients (age range 57-87) were recruited for this study: 56 from 6 centres in Spain, 56 from 9 centres in the UK, and 8 from 2 centres in Italy. 60% fulfilled all three core diagnostic features of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and 40% only two (of Parkinsonism, "cognitive fluctuations", or "visual hallucinations"). "Systematised delusions" and "repeated falls" were the most frequent supportive diagnostic features. There were no differences across countries in demographic, diagnostic or clinical features. The study itself had two functions, the first being a drug treatment trial using rivastigmine. The second, an examination of the usefulness of the Consensus Criteria for the diagnosis of DLB, found that it could be consistently applied across many different sites for multicentre studies. (RH).
