Annotation | Time of day and exposure to food and food related cues have been shown to affect our desire to eat. However, age and gender-related factors likely to affect appetite are rarely, if ever, examined. This American study aimed to determine whether younger, middle-aged and older men and women differed in terms of hunger, dieting and their reactivity to grocery store cues across the day. Hunger and dieting differences between age groups were evident. In general, middle-aged and older adults tended to report more hunger after strolling through a grocery store (especially during the afternoon and evening) while younger adults did not. (RH). |
