Annotation | The tenor of the pre-Budget statement, the Pension Credit consultation paper (Cm 4900), and the Government Actuary's report (Cm 4920) all indicate a reduction in the state's role in pension provision, targeting help on the poorest. This briefing paper outlines the main points of each. The Greater London Forum for the Elderly (GLF) will be preparing a response to the consultation paper, and urge borough Forums to consider making their own responses. Although some concessions have been made, the establishment of a fair pensions system has still to be achieved. (RH). |
