Annotation | This document combines last year's separate publications on both high performance indicators and clinical indicators adopted as part of the Performance Assessment Framework. (This Framework introduced a new broader-based approach to assessing performance in the NHS). As such it acts as an annual report for the monitoring and performance assessment of the National Health Service, by the use of six indicators. These indicators are: Health improvement; Fair access; Effective delivery of appropriate healthcare; Efficiency; Patient/carer experience of the NHS and Health outcomes of NHS care. This year's revised publication also improves upon the coverage of the indicators to reflect key Government priorities, e.g. cancer services; those set out in the White Paper, Saving Lives and those in response to the National Survey of NHS patients. Under the sixth indicator, "Health outcomes of NHS healthcare" can be found a table on the emergency admissions of older people. (KJ). |
