Implementing an oral hygiene assessment tool on an acute medical ward for older people | Author(s) | Andy Lockwood |
Journal title | Nursing Older People, vol 12, no 7, October 2000 |
Pages | pp 18-20 |
Keywords | Dental problems ; Evaluation ; Medical wards ; Pilot. |
Annotation | Oral health is not always treated as a priority in acute care but, particularly for older patients, this could result in unnecessary discomfort, illness, or even an extended stay in hospital. With adequate assessment, oral problems can be avoided, minimised and managed. The author describes how how he has developed, piloted and evaluated a new oral hygiene assessment tool. (RH). |
