Annotation | The 1988 UK Adult Dental Health Survey indicates that more adults have their own teeth than ever before; and for the first time in a century, most older people in the UK will have some of their own teeth. However, there is evidence of a distinct lack of attention to oral health in long-term care settings, with many older people experiencing debilitating dental diseases and infections. The author reviews the literature on this neglect and the reasons behind it. (RH). |
