Annotation | There have been a number of significant demographic changes in India over the past fifty years, notably a persistent reduction in fertility and an improvement in life expectancy at all stages of the life span. This study examines demographic trends, the economic implications of ageing, and social security provision and other policies implemented in India. The roles of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the media are briefly discussed. (RH). |
