Annotation | Information for 1998/99 from the Survey of English Housing is presented, based on interviews with some 20,000 households. It describes trends in: tenure and household characteristics; mobility, movement between tenures, and distances moved; home ownership and its financing; and social and private sector renting. Additional topics for this year are: leaseholders in flats; young people and students; and the housing of older people. This final chapter looks at a number of issues that embrace the changing living arrangements of elderly householders over the past twenty years; including their current satisfaction with their accommodation and local amenities. There is only brief mention of those living in communal establishments and readers are referred to Department of Health statistics. (RH/KJ). |
