Annotation | The co-occurrence of physical limiting conditions and depression in older people is well documented; and untreated depression carries an enormous risk and cost. Therapeutic recreation is an ideal psychosocial treatment for use in home care settings, because of its effectiveness and versatility. Certified therapeutic recreation specialists use various interventions such as music and exercise as part of a treatment team. This article includes a case study in which poetry is used. (RH). |
