Annotation | Joint reviews provide an independent assessment of how well the public is being served by social services locally. Within Hounslow, there are some services that meet needs well. Examples of good practice include: a home care accreditation scheme using standards developed by the London Domiciliary Care Initiative; and consulting the public on budget priorities. The report notes a number of points for follow-up action, many of which the Authority has already identified, including: improving assessment and care management; improving strategic commissioning; and refocusing on disability services. More specifically, it also recommends: improving the cost effectiveness of the home care service; investigating reasons for the increase in nursing home placements; and developing systems for monitoring whether services users get access to information.
