AnnotationJoint reviews provide an independent assessment of how well the public is being served by social services locally. Plymouth became a unitary authority in April 1998, taking on services previously provided by Devon County Council; and overall, the Joint Review found that some of the people were well served. Most service users expressed a high level of satisfaction with services. However, there were inconsistencies in referral, assessment and care management processes. The Authority has adopted central government funding initiatives, including a Health Action Zone (HAZ) which has a programme for improving the health of older people. The Authority has already identified points for follow-up action. These include improving information systems, and the links between strategy and planning. (RH).
