AnnotationThe commissioning of this exploratory study arose from local interest from psychiatrists and psychologists in how much psychological work is being carried out in three day hospitals in Leeds. The study aims to clarify how much psychological work is being carried out by staff in these day hospitals, how much supervision they receive, what form any psychological work takes, and what training has been undertaken by staff to carry out such work. Although staff taking part in the study were well-motivated, they also expressed concerns about their need for training. Managers need to consider the training supervision and training needs of their staff, and at the same time promote the merits of day hospitals' services. (RH).
