Annotation | The 1998 White Paper "Modernising social services" outlined proposals for new structures for improving standards. The Quality Strategy, of which this is a summary, consults on the reforms needed in working practices, local management and training to drive up the quality of social services in England. It proposes the establishment of a Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). It outlines proposals for change, which comprise tackling inconsistencies in services, delivering excellence at local level, and improving workforce training. Comments and responses are invited by 21 November 2000. (RH). |
