Annotation | The 1998 White Paper "Modernising social services" sought to place users and carers at the centre of social services delivery, and proposed new structures for improving standards which are now enacted in the Care Standards Act 2000. This circular is issued in conjunction with the consultation document which seeks views on a quality strategy for social care. It draws attention to the document's three main components: tackling inconsistency; accessible and individually tailored services; and a more skilled and competent workforce. Authorities and voluntary organisations are asked for their comments on the consultation by 21 November 2000. (RH). |
