AnnotationThe Changing Lives for Good? Conference was addressed by speakers from the Housing Associations Charitable Trust (HACT), CRISIS, the National Homelessness Alliance (NHA), the Salvation Army, the Catholic Housing Aid Society (CHAS), and St Mungo's. Five workshops discussed issues of outreach, resettlement, prevention, multiple needs, and user involvement. The conference discussed how attitudes to older homeless people could be changed. A number of action points drawn from the conference would be used to measure progress, including: developing preventative services that maintain and support older homeless people in their accommodation after resettlement; statutory funding of services; improving the quality of housing advice; outreach services; training for those working with older people; and encouraging policies at local level to tackle homelessness.
