Annotation | Physical performance measures may offer advantages over self-report in the functional assessment of older people. Estimates of the feasibility, reliability and construct validity of these measures in larger heterogeneous samples are necessary to establish their importance relative to traditional measures of function. The Functional Reach (FR) and the Timed Up and Go (TUG) tests were found not to be feasible tools in this study. The TUG showed poor test-retest reliability. Despite the ability of these tests to stratify risk in some studies, further study of the reproducibility of these measures appears necessary. (RH). |
