AnnotationResults of this investigation indicate that a brief modification and extension of the three word recall paradigm from the Folstein Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) was highly effective in correctly identifying people living in the community with mild cognitive impairment from those diagnosed with normal cognitive function. A delayed three trial recall paradigm using the three items from the MMSE spaced 5 minutes apart, combined with other brief, sensitive measures of memory and language function, were also effective, and worthy of further research.
