Annotation | The "ideal home" approach to long-term care asks residents to describe their "ideal home" under a number of headings, to establish what they view as care priorities. A quantitative analysis of 421 specific comments or requests showed that main responses concerned recreational activities, social aspects of residential life, meals and food, physical amenities, care from staff, choice, furniture, and spiritual aspects. The study described is one of a series looking at quality of life in long-term care institutions. These results were used by Hampshire County Council in the development of their "Quality standards for residential care homes" document (1992). (RH). |
