Annotation | The aim of the conference was to consider what could be done to enhance the independence and social inclusion of older people. This summary report outlines presentations by John Denham (Minister of State for Social Security), on the need for positive change; and Martin Shreeve (Programme Director, Better Government for Older People, BGOP), on the impact of the Help the Aged report "A life worth living". Four workshops considered good practice on the following: housing options and the housing movement; safe, accessible, reliable and affordable transport; care and support - sheltered housing with a difference; and influencing public policy makers.
