AnnotationThe Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has supported this project as part of its programme of research and innovative development projects. This report represents an attempt to bring together the main issues which have formed the subject matter of the Debate, and to give some idea of the range of opinions and the variety of information generated by the Debate under the five main themes: built environment and transportation; health and care; paying for age; values and attitudes; and work and lifestyles. Appendices give details of proposals discussed at Policy Symposia at the Business Design Centre, Islington, and the 35 proposals prioritised at the Greenwich meeting - both in December 1999. Appendix 3, "The call to action", lists priorities for immediate action by the Government. A final appendix lists sources of feedback received in the Debate Office. (RH).
