Annotation | The Public Services Productivity Panel (PSPP) is a team of top private sector managers recruited by the Government, with a remit to advise on improving efficiency and productivity. This report, prepared with guidance from Panel member Dame Sheila Masters, focuses on a key commitment of "Modernising Government": how to deliver public services to meet the needs of citizens, in particular how local councils commission support services for older people. Four contrasting pilot authorities were selected: the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead; Kingston-upon-Hull; the London Borough of Tower Hamlets; and Worcestershire County Council. The report concludes that older people should have a choice of a range of high quality and reliable community-based services that promote independence, for which good commissioning arrangements are paramount.
