AnnotationProvides information for the financial year on registration details, registered and occupied beds and qualified nursing staff for independent sector nursing homes, private hospitals and clinics registered under Section 23 of the Registered Homes Act 1984. The figures for occupied beds are given for those aged over 65. The data collected until 1998 used a different returns form (KO36) than from 1999 (RH(N)) which represents a significant difference in the way material has been collected, and results in improved data quality. Since 1996 the Statistical Bulletin has been the only output of this data. The 2001 Bulletin is the last to be produced by the Department, from 1st April 2002, the responsibility for production of data passes to the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC). This will result in a change of data, notably it will be less detailed and information on occupied beds and staffing may not be available. (KJ).
