Annotation | The ageing of populations is a world-wide phenomenon, with important policy implications for both developing and developed countries. The programme of health of older people in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Eighth Programme of Work for 1990 to 1995 follows up the previous Programme of Work (1984 to 1989) in supporting approaches leading to the well-being of older people. This might be achieved by reducing their functional dependency due to deterioration of their health, and social and economic status. (RH). |
