Annotation | Depression may be associated with cognitive decline in older people with impaired cognition. Depression and clinical diagnoses of incident Alzheimer's disease (AD) were assessed in samples of older people with normal cognition from the Amsterdam Study of the Elderly (AMSTEL) and the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA). In both samples, depression was associated with an increased risk of AD and cognitive decline, respectively, but only in those with higher levels of education. (RH). |
