Annotation | A high incidence of pressure sores in the non-ambulatory geriatric patient population indicates the need for research on pressure distribution of wheelchair cushions. This pilot study was to determine the different effects of four low-cost wheelchair cushions on dynamic sitting pressure, and the extent to which this varied between participants with different body types. Results indicated that no significant differences between a participant's four average peak pressure readings (mm HG) for each of the cushions. However, qualitative analysis revealed trends that may be significant for future research. (RH). |
