Keywords | Alcoholism ; Literature reviews. |
Annotation | Factors that affect older people's health and quality of life include concerns about alcohol use or misuse by this population. Published literature on alcohol and ageing in the 1970s and 1980s focused too much on prevalence rates, with little on measuring treatment efficacy. This paper focuses on the most recent expert panels, assessment and treatment recommendations, and the most recent interventions of brief advice and the use of the opiate antagonist medication naltrexone.
