Annotation | The rationale for using qualitative techniques to increase our understanding of dementia is discussed. Grounded theory analysis, a method based on the generation of theory from data systematically gathered and analysed through the research process, has been used in the two pilot projects described. The first looked at seemingly inappropriate use of the term "lucky" by subjects with dementia. The second was a general grounded theory approach to looking at the experience of being assessed for dementia, and presumably the experience of some disorientation. (RH). |
